Citroen has announced a new crossover for EuropeMay 22, 2018
The European version of the crossover Citroen C5 Aircross will debut this week.
The world premiere of the new five-seat crossover Citroen took place in April last year in Shanghai. Then the brand introduced the Chinese version of the model, the Chinese market C5 Aircross came in the fall of 2017. Now the manufacturer announced on its pages in social networks the date of the debut of the European version of SUV – the crossover will make its debut on May 24 at a special event in France. According to preliminary data, “live” sales of the European crossover will start in October.
It is expected that the exterior and interior of the European C5 Aircross will be the same as the Chinese version. The length intended for the Middle Kingdom cross is 4 510 mm, width – 1,860 mm, height – 1,670 mm, wheelbase – 2,730 mm. But the motor scale of the european SUV, most likely, will be different. In the China model is available with petrol turbo four 1.6 THP and 1.8 THP power of 167 and 204 hp. respectively, both motors are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. In Europe, for a crossover, turbo-diesel will certainly be provided.
As reported by the French media, diesel engines will hit the Citroën novelty from the all-in-one Peugeot 3008/5008 all-terrain vehicles (all three models are built on the “EMP2” cart): these are 1.6 BlueHDi (100 or 120 hp) and 2.0 BlueHDi (150 or 180 hp). Drive in the model with ICE – only the front (regardless of the region). Later, both China and Europe should have a four-wheel-drive rechargeable hybrid with a 1.6 THP petrol (200 hp), a motor generator and a separate engine on the rear axle. The cumulative output of this C5 Aircross is 300 hp.
Citroen SUV received a new suspension with hydraulic power limiters (Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, PHC): standard shock absorbers added a pair of hydraulic buffers, which “extinguish” shocks during the progress of compression and rebound. Also in the arsenal of the model are: a virtual “assembly”, a multimedia system with a touchscreen, heated front seats and a massage function, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, headlight switching, automatic emergency braking, movement and monitoring of “blind” zones, a camera of a circular view.
In China, C5 Aircross is sold locally: the production of crossovers has been established at the Citroen and Dongfeng joint venture. The price is from 152,700 yuan. For Europe, all-roads will be assembled in French Renne, at the same enterprise that produces today the Peugeot 5008. The price list for Europe has not yet been published.
In the Chinese market, Citroen did not become a breakthrough: in January-April 2018, 8,371 cars were sold, while the Nissan X-Trail, for example, sold around 34,400 copies in the same period, and Honda CR-V sales amounted to about 29 300 pieces.
