Cadillac is officially unveiled a new concept car called Escala. The prototype is a harbinger of a new flagship model, which will be located on a step above the sedan CT6 and shows new design direction of the American automaker.
Overall length Cadillac Escala is 5347 millimeters, width – 1948 mm, and height – 1455 millimeters. The wheel base of the prototype is 3228 millimeters. Thus, the concept car to 163 millimeters longer, 69 millimeters wider and 17 millimeters lower CT6. The difference in distance between the front and rear axles is 119 mm to Escala.
The basis of the prototype went to a modified version of rear-wheel drive chassis that was used when creating the CT6. The concept car is equipped with a 4.2-liter twin-turbo engine the V8, developing 500 hp. The automaker said only that the engine is equipped with the system off four cylinders to save fuel.
Cadillac Escala also received 22-inch wheels which made of organic light emitting diode optics and false radiator grille with three-dimensional structure.
Inside the prototype set made of curved elements OLED-displays. Digital instrument panel of Cadillac Escala combined with located on the center console screen multimedia system. In the entertainment complex of the prototype has a voice control system and control function by means of gestures.
Sheathing of interior Escala performed manually. The decoration applied materials which are used in the world of high fashion.
Earlier it was reported that in the Cadillac abandoned plans to release a flagship sedan that would compete for customers with extended versions of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series and Audi A8. According to the original plan of the automaker, this model should appear in 2020, and get the name of the CT8. Instead, the company wants to focus on the development of all-terrain models.
