Today, the company’s press service has published all the information about another “charged” representative of the BMW M family – the Gran Coupe M8 (and, of course, its more powerful performance Competition). The power plant of the long-awaited news is designed for a maximum of 617 hp.
Under the hood of the M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe in the Competition version is the same 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 found in other modern BMW M models. The standard M8 Gran Coupe produces 600 hp. (750 Nm), while the performance of Competition can give out 617 “horses”.
According to the representatives of the company, the high-performance M8 Gran Coupe can accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.1 seconds, for the execution of Competition this figure is 3.0 seconds. Both versions come with the same eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive, and also have a limited top speed of 250 km / h. Customers who need a higher speed can choose the M Driver package, which increases the maximum speed to 305 km / h. It is noteworthy that at the same time you need to be trained at a BMW driving school.
“The front two-link suspension of the BMW M8 Gran Coupe and the rear five-link suspension improve driving dynamics,” the press release said. The Adaptive M system, which “reads” road conditions and adjusts shock absorbers accordingly, is also standard. But the M1 and M2 buttons allow drivers to individually adjust the parameters of the engine, suspension, steering, braking system and all-wheel drive in accordance with three standard driving modes: “Default road”, “Sport” and Track.
New items have a braking system with standard ventilated brake discs measuring 15.6 inches in front and 15.0 inches at the rear with fixed six-piston calipers. As an extra option, you can choose carbon-ceramic brakes 15.8 inches in front, 15.0 inches in the rear.
The M8 Gran Coupe will be introduced in some markets in the exclusive version of Launch Edition, which will be limited to only 50 copies. The car will receive a shade of body Diamant Green with bronze inserts and 20-inch wheels. Prices for the Launch Edition version are still unknown, but the standard M8 Gran Coupe will cost at least $ 130,000, while the more powerful Competition version has an initial price tag of $ 143,000.
