Audi introduced the electric concept car AI: TRAILSeptember 10, 2019
The Audi AI electric concept: the TRAIL quattro demonstrates what future German SUVs might look like.
Along with AICON, AI: RACE and AI: ME, Audi has added another concept car to its fantastic garage of the future. Like other representatives of the AI family, the SUV is designed for special use. With a length of 4 015 mm, it is shorter than the compact crossover Audi Q2, but wider and taller than it and therefore has a large internal space.
The SUV combines two Volkswagen Group platforms – MEB and PPE – with an electric motor rated at 429 hp. and 1000 Nm of torque, driving each wheel, and a battery installed under the floor. The power reserve is 500 km on the road and 250 km on rough terrain, and the maximum speed is electronically limited to 130 km / h.
AI: TRAIL is built from high strength steel, aluminum and composite materials, making it weigh 1,750 kg. According to the brand’s chief designer Mark Lichte, this is the fourth and last representative of the AI show car line. The model stands out from other exhibitors in a monobox and exclusive 22-inch wheels with 33.5-inch off-road tires with air pressure control sensors. The novelty has practically no front or rear overhangs, and the design feature of the large interior provides amazing visibility.
Concept car AI: TRAIL received a fourth-level autonomous driving system with the presence of a steering wheel and pedals. The salon is equipped with off-road paraphernalia, including removable flashlights, binoculars, a first-aid kit and removable hammocks. The SUV has many storage compartments, as well as a compartment for dirty equipment and boots at the rear of the trunk.
