A rare photo shows the Dodge Grand Cherokee SUV
June 3, 2020According to the book “Jeep: The Story of America’s Greatest Car,” by Patrick Foster, initially the iconic Jeep Grand Cherokee could very well enter the markets under the Dodge brand.
The new generation of the mid-size SUV Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will be offered as a novelty in the 2021 model year, should be presented in the coming months. But let’s go back to the very beginning of the history of this popular car for a moment. As part of this article, we want to show you a photo showing the original Grand Cherokee in a version from … Dodge.
This snapshot appeared on Facebook. It is reportedly taken from Jeep: The Story of America’s Greatest Car, by Patrick Foster.
This photo is very interesting because you can not only see the version of the popular Dodge model, but you can also notice the front of the first generation Jeep Grand Cherokee in the background on the right.
It is worth noting that the false radiator grill in body color is actually more like Dodge cars of that time. Recessed, vertically oriented door handles are also an interesting element of style.
According to the information in the book, initially, the parent company Chrysler, which included both Dodge and Jeep, believed that Jeep did not have a large enough dealer network to meet the expected consumer demand for the Grand Cherokee SUV.
According to Mr. Foster (author of the book), Bob Nixon led the Grand Cherokee development team at Dodge.
